Today I completed Week 1 and boy does it feel good!! I've also recruited a close friend of mine, Melissa to do it! I am trying to rope in as many people as I can so that we can encourage each other. I am hoping she will run a 5k (or many) here in the Bay Area and a couple of my friends (one who is also doing C25k) have offered to run races with me down there. I think Mark would do a race with me too since he is so in shape already :)
Can't wait to start Week 2 tomorrow :)

New Challenge : Reading
My next challenge for myself is to read 50 books in 2010. I'm not going to say they have to be "smart" books. Just any book I feel inspired to read. Reading is a hobby that I really enjoy and I'm hoping that this new challenge will help me to set aside time for myself to do the things that make me happy.
P.S. I'm also going to try and not buy 50 books! I'm trying to get all of the books through Book Mooch or PaperBackSwap. I love those websites!! PaperBackSwap is easier but my books move quicker on BookMooch. Please recommend any good reads you've had recently!

Couch to 5k : W1D1
Today was the first day of my program (which I've actually started 3 times but never made it to day 2). But you guys are going to motivate me right? Or ridicule me and make fun of me if I never update this again, right?
No, really. PLEASE DO.
Here is what week 1 entails. I do this 3 times (I'm picking Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) and then next week, it gets a tiny bit more challenging.
Brisk five-minute warm-up walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
I did today's work-out at the gym on the treadmill, which was actually okay! For a long time, I refused to do it at the gym for various lame reasons. My gym is always packed and I didn't want people waiting for a treadmill with me walking, running, walking, running, etc. I also have a fear of falling! Well, I'm over that and it was actually, dare I say, FUN! It really helped that I downloaded this guy's podcast to my iPod. It told me when I needed to walk and when I needed to run and had some music behind it. Made the time go by quick!

What is this?
I tend to be a start something never finish it type of person. Yes, I'm one of those people. Even I find it to be annoying and I know Mark does too. I have always tried to change but changing seems to be really challenging.
So I'm hoping that you, Internet, will help me in my quest to finish the things that I start. I need some accountability and I'm hoping that you can stay on my ass but in a kind and encouraging way. Oh, you don't want to be kind and encouraging? Okay, well maybe the embarrassment will help. Feel free to ridicule and harass me when I do not complete or stick to my tasks.
Here goes nothing!
